Meghan Markle shock: Screen dad Wendell Pierce hit by theatre collapse in West End


Wendell Pierce, 55, this week told how the Duchess of Sussex had sent him a good luck message as he prepared to make his debut on stage in Piccadilly Theatre. The 55-year-old actor played the high-powered attorney Robert Zane in the the US show in which Meghan played paralegal Rachel Zane. In a video posted on Twitter he told members of the audience he was sorry they had to evacuated after they arrived to watch the play, Death Of A Salesman.  

He said: “I did not mean for it to go like this. I would like to thank you all for one, safely evacuating. We apologise and we are glad that no one is hurt.

“I ask you all to come back and see our production. We are so honoured you came tonight.

“We are so sorry that unfortunately this happened.”

Mr Pierce plays the lead character Willy Loman in the play written by Arthur Miller. 

Earlier this week he told the Evening Standard Prince Harry and Meghan wished him good luck before his first performance. 

At the end of the opening show he received a standing ovation.
