Prince Philip health latest: Queen’s husband MISSES Trooping the Colour

She did not let royal fans down looking deeply regal in gold and white coat and matching hat. Trooping the Colour is held every year on a Saturday in June at Horse Guards Parade in Westminster, by St James’s Park. The Royal Family gather on Buckingham Palace’s balcony to watch a parade and flypast.

The ceremony involves more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians.

But Philip, who will turn 98 on Monday, has not been seen in public since the wedding of Lady Gabriella and Thomas Kingston on May 18.

He retired from royal duties in August 2017 following decades of attending royal functions.

A statement from Buckingham Palace when he retired said: “The Duke of Edinburgh will no longer undertake his own program of public engagements.

“The Captain General’s Parade will bring His Royal Highness’s individual program to a conclusion, although he may choose to attend certain events, alongside The Queen, from time to time.”

Philip is believed to spend most of his time painting and reading since his retirement.

But he was seen in fits of giggles before waving to the crowds at Lady Gabriella’s wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

A couple of weeks earlier, the Duke was also photographed meeting his newest great-grandchild Archie Harrison, the first child of Harry and Meghan Markle.

But he was not seen publicly for during the Trumps visit this week.

One senior courtier previously said: “The Queen feels the Duke has earned a proper retirement.
