The one aspect of life that dramatically altered Prince Charles – ‘Marriage changed that'

Andrew Morton, writer and royal expert, claims that his life was completely different following his wedding day, which catapulted the family back into the public’s eye. Writing in his book ‘Diana: Her True Story’, Mr Morton said that after the marriage: “Diana, an unwilling international media celebrity, was having to learn on the hoof. “There was no training, backup or advice from within the royal system.

“Everything was piecemeal and haphazard.

“Charles’ courtiers were used to dealing with a bachelor of fixed habits and a set routine.

“Marriage changed all that.”

During her time as a member of the Royal Family, Diana became one of the most recognisable and popular faces in the world.

On the specific day Diana separated from Charles, one royal expert has spoken of the touching question Diana uttered to Charles.

Writing in her book, ‘The Queen and Di: The Untold Story’, Ingrid Seward spoke of the moment the pair met for the first time following their separation.

The two met in Kensington Palace in the first-floor drawing room Diana called the salon of her apartment.

Walking into the room, Diana allegedly asked Charles, “Why did this have to happen?”.

Also writing in the same book, Ms Seward revealed the strain of public life on the royal.

Princess Diana died in 1997.

Charles went on to marry Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

They were married in a ceremony at Windsor Guildhall in 2005.
