UK weather forecast: Temperatures plummet as more rain set to batter Britain

The miserable weather is set to continue into the weekend as festival goers head out into muddy fields. Temperatures are expected to stay around 9 degrees celsius as thick cloud blankets the UK. Met Officer Meteorologist Alex Deakin said: “More rain to come for the most of us on Friday but perhaps won’t be as heavy or as persistent as it has been over recent days.

“Still many areas starting Friday dull and drizzly.

“Feeling pretty chilly as well but the winds in the most part are at least a little bit lighter than they have been.

“Most of England and Wales starting Friday with thick cloud rain and drizzle.”

Temperatures are expected to be around 9 or 10 degrees celsius at the beginning of the day.

Figures will struggle to get higher than 12 on what is set to be a miserable start to summer.

The evening will be mostly dry with clear spells for England, Wales and Scotland, although the odd shower may remain. It will be cloudy with heavy rain in Northern Ireland.

Through the night, rain will spread into westernmost parts of Scotland, Wales and south-west England.

Tomorrow, cloud and rain in the west will spread into central areas. Sunny spells will follow into the west with the odd shower.

Eastern areas of the UK will have sunny spells with just the odd shower around.

Temperatures still generally below average but a little higher than recent days.

On Sunday there will be a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, some of which will be heavy, especially in the west.

Moderate south-westerly winds. Monday will start dry and bright but heavy showers will develop later, especially in the north and west.
