X Factor 2018: Dalton Harris chart update – GOOD NEWS for winner as Power Of Love soars

The tracking week for the UK charts runs from Friday to Thursday, meaning Dalton is at a near three-day disadvantage in the race to this week’s summit. His track The Power Of Love was not released until late Sunday night. But the good news is that after only a few hours on sale, it is already impacting today’s midweek update.

Using sales and streams up to midnight last night, Harris is on the cusp of racing into the Top 20 – giving a strong indication that he will continue to soar in the run-up to close of play on Thursday night.

The duet with James Arthur is currently at No23, the Official Charts Company confirmed.

To date the lowest entry position for an X Factor winner’s single is No9 for Louisa Johnson’s Forever Young back in 2015.

And while Dalton is almost certain to race further up the rankings in the next few days, it’ll be interesting to see whether the momentum continues right up until the end of the week.

Last year’s winners, Rak-Su, charted at No2 with their coronation hit Dimelo.

The year before that, Matt Terry peaked one place behind with original song When Christmas Comes Around – penned by Ed Sheeran.

An X Factor winner’s song has not topped the charts since Ben Haenow with Something I Need back in 2014.

Last night Harris beat Scarlett Lee to the X Factor crown, with Anthony Russell polling third.

Voting stats then revealed that Russell had been tussling Harris for the top spot every week in the voting, with no other contestant ever coming first in the polls.

Harris ultimately won 41.3% of the final vote, a decisive victory over Lee’s 31.3% and Russell’s 27.4%.

Ratings for the X Factor final were marginally up year-on-year: 5.3 million versus last year’s 5 million.

The Power of Love by Dalton Harris featuring James Arthur is out now.
